Our Voices

The Blue Door Theatre is not just a place but a cherished home for countless voices, each with a unique tale to tell.

Here, our community of players, dedicated board members, passionate volunteers, and talented students come together to share their personal stories and experiences, shedding light on the profound impact the theater has had on their lives.

I am completely in awe at what improv can do... It has given me confidence, calmed my nerves, and made me feel safe to be my genuine, authentic self. It has shown me that I belong, regardless of how I compare to others. It has also taught me to work with numerous personalities, have a voice, and truly listen.

These empowering, positive skills transfer beyond the theater and into my daily life with my family, friends, and community.

Our Players Want to Share

Jake Foerg

Jake Foerg is a long time play and teacher with the BDT. Listen to how improv has impacted him during his life. "It's kept the childlike quality of myself around. I feel like I haven't lost that kind of, like fun bouncy energy."

Annica Eagle

Annica Eagle is a long-time player, teacher, and host of Punderground. "Improv is spectacular in that it allows you to be silly. You kind of get to set aside everything that you are normally worried about."

Alex Kwamina

Alex Kwamina is a long-time player, teacher, tech director, and Improv League co-founder. "I don't think people really understand how hard it is to sometimes communicate with people, and improv really teaches you how."

Michelle

"I signed up to improve my facilitation skills and to push my boundaries. Probably one of the best learning decisions I’ve made.

I am loving every minute of my improv class. So much so that I’m telling everyone about it. My team at work graciously listens to me each Friday morning as I tell them about all the activities and fun. I cannot recommend the improv class with Blue Door Theater enough."

Nicky

Talking about our Improv and Self Care course:

Learning improv with Lawra at Blue Door was a delightful, fun, and frankly therapeutic experience.

The class was well worth my time and money - I heartily recommend Blue Door Improv to anyone and everyone!

Laura

Michael and Dave were absolutely great instructors.  I loved how they took notes when we were practicing and would reference specific things they liked or thought were particularly good. I also felt like they were really great at explaining concepts and working with all levels of experience.  I would absolutely take this course again, and I would absolutely take a longer, more in-depth course with the two of them on this.  Great teachers, I cannot express that enough.
